YiChunGreenTechnology Turning Waste into Gold by Transforming Used Diapers into Raw Materials

This year, we achieved the Global Recycled Standard (GRS) certification, a testament to our unwavering commitment to environmental protection and sustainability. This certification ensures traceability throughout the entire supply chain, from recycled materials to final products, enhancing brand credibility and showcasing our responsibility and capabilities to the world. Behind this milestone is the culmination of years of hard work by our team. We've developed technology to decompose used diapers into paper fibers, plastic particles, and superabsorbent polymers (SAP), which are then repurposed into paper products, plastic goods, and other innovative applications. This groundbreaking approach transforms how used diapers are managed, moving away from incineration or landfilling. At the 2023 Asia-Pacific Sustainability Expo, YiChun Environmental Technology earned recognition from the event’s judges and was honored by Dr. Eugene Chien, Chairman of the Taiwan Institute for Sustainable Energy. Our booth drew significant attention, showcasing designs made entirely from recycled diapers—including the main visual wall, flooring, and even business cards. This effort utilized nearly 35,000 recycled diapers, achieving a carbon reduction of 1,823 kilograms! The journey has not been easy. From initial material development failures to forming partnerships with downstream manufacturers and designing collection services for elder care facilities and maternity centers, we have continuously learned and refined our processes. Taiwan generates over 1,300 tons of used diapers daily, a figure that will only rise with an aging population. Through the power of technology, we aim to create more sustainable products and alleviate the environmental burden.
